Course Code:  CS 41
Course Description: This unit covers the use of the chainsaw and lowering equipment working from a rope and harness in conjunction with a ground person in medium sized open grown trees. It also includes the use of climbing irons. This course covers all of the requirements as per the City & Guilds NPTC assessment schedule to prepare the candidate to undertake the assessment for CS41. As this is a five day course; as well as covering the content of the City & Guilds NPTC assessment schedule we also undertake advanced rigging methods including freelining and speedlining where you will dismantle the tree but lower the material to a point some distance away from the tree itself. Ideal if you want to take the material from one end of a garden to the other. Or over buildings, fences, walls, watercourses etc.
Suitable For: A course suitable for people who are required to prune or dismantle a tree where the controlled lowering of the material is required because of targets below the tree that canot be damaged.
Pre-Requisites:  CS30, CS31, CS38, CS39
Duration/Format:  5 Days training. 1 day assessment.
Times:  9.00am until 5.00pm
Learning Outcomes:  The learner will be able to:

1. Identify, inspect and comment upon key parts of the equipment to be used

2. Prepare the equipment for use ensuring the safety of themselves, other people and the environment

3. Comment upon the structure, condition and properties of the tree(s) to be worked upon

4. Use a chainsaw and other pruning tools whilst maintaining a working position within the crown of a tree using a rope and harness in conjunction with ground staff

Equipment Needs:   A full set of LOLER complient climbing kit including wire core flip line and climbing irons. Lowering equipment will be provided. Climbing kit can be provided if required.
Costs & Breakdown: Training £450.00 + VAT. Assessment £155.00 zero VAT.
Notes:  Candidates will need to bring their own packed lunch. Hot drinks will be provided for the duration of the course, free of charge.
