Course Code:  UA2.1 & UA2.2
Course Description: The training for UA2.1 will give the candidate the skills for the identification of tree species, growth characteristics and the identification of hazard trees and branches.

The training for UA2.2 will give the candidate the skills to be able to prune trees from the ground using approved insulated equipment and to be able to fell a tree from ground level within falling distance of a powerline using a pull rope and non return system.

Suitable For: Anyone wanting to work adjacent to overhead and underground electrical aparatus owned by a Network Oporator.

IMPORTANT NOTE: POSSESSING THIS UNIT WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY ALLOW YOU TO WORK ADJACENT TO OVERHEAD POWERLINES WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM THE LINE OWNER. ANY WORK CARRIED OUT IN THE PROXIMITY OF POWERLINES MUST BE UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE POWERLINE COMPANY.

Pre-Requisites:  CS30, CS31, UA1.
Duration/Format:  2 Days training. 1 day assessment.
Times:  9.00am until 5.00pm
Learning Outcomes:

UA2.1 – The candidate will be able to:

Identify common species of tree by leaf or twig.

Identify growth characteristics

Iderntify hazard trees and branches

UA2.2 – The candidate will be able to:

Prune trees safely from the ground in proximity to overhead powerlines.

Equipment Needs:  A full set of ground based PPE for operating a chainsaw.
